NHS DVT Scanning ServiceKings Hill Medical Centre offers NHS patients a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) scanning service. This service is offered in conjunction with the Maidstone & Weald PCT. If patients have contacted their GP and he/she has considered that an ultrasound scan is the most appropriate method of investigation for a possible DVT, this can be carried out at Kings Hill Medical Centre GP Surgeries will contact us directly to make an appointment. Appointments for scans are offered the same day if we are contacted before 2pm or the next working day if we are contacted after 2pm. All scans are carried out by a fully qualified Ultrasonographer or Consultant Radiologist, all of whom currently practice at Kings Hill Medical Centre. Scans take approximately 20 minutes for one leg and if the GP requests , the other leg will be scanned too, taking a further 20 minutes. When the scan is concluded the ultrasonographer or Radiologist will give the results verbally and a written report is prepared to the patients GP. Any results requiring urgent attention will be dealt with immediately where patient will be advised to seek further advice from their GP or referred to the nearest A&E Department for treatment.
