Cardiology

The Cardiology service at Kings Hill Medical Centre is led and run by Dr Phyllis Holt, Consultant Cardiologist in partnership with Dr Scott Takeda, Consultant Cardiologist, Mr Chris Blauth & Mr Graham Venn, Cardiothoracic Surgeons.

Both Dr Holt and Dr Takeda have NHS Consultant posts at Maidstone Hospital and Mr Blauth and Mr Venn at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.

Supporting the Cardiology Service, we have a fully professionally qualified cardiac technical team, radiologists and nursing staff.

In the speciality of Cardiology we are able to offer patients unique “one-stop” clinical appointments. After assessment of the GP referral letter all non-invasive investigations are organised either prior to out-patient appointments or on the day of attendance. All results of these investigations are then ready to be given to patients by the Consultant at the initial appointment.

All our investigative tests are carried out in our state of the art equipped cardiology testing rooms. The services we are able to offer include:

• Cardiac Ultrasound
• Electrocardiogram (ECG)
• Exercise treadmill testing
• 24/48 hour ECG monitoring
• 24 hour blood pressure monitoring
• Prolonged cardiac monitoring
• Respiratory Function tests
• Pacemaker Checks
• Defibrillator Checks

In addition patients can also have on-site plain film x-ray and pathology blood testing.

If after assessment it is felt that further investigations / tests are required we can also offer patients invasive procedures to patients carried out by the Consultant. These are:

• Transoesophageal Echocardiography
• Stress Echocardiography
• Reveal Device Implantation / Explantation
• DC Electrical Cardioversion

All other invasive cardiac procedures including cardiac surgery are currently referred to our Partnership Hospital – The London Bridge.

In all cases, patients must have been referred to a Consultant Cardiologist by their GP. Self referrals cannot be accepted.
